Below is the week-by-week curriculum for Families Raising Readers. All sessions are held live via Google Meet. The first session is an open introduction — come meet the instructor and see if it’s the right fit.
Introduction to the Course — Free Session
Free — July 10Meet your instructor and fellow parents. This free opening session covers the course overview, Q&A about the program, and a brief introduction to the progression of reading using the Science of Reading as a guide. We will walk through the Why’s, the do’s, and the don’ts of teaching reading at home.
Phonological Awareness
LiveLearn how to help students hear and manipulate the sounds in spoken language — the critical foundation that comes before letters and print. Includes live instruction, examples, and Q&A.
Phonics
LiveUnderstand how letters and letter combinations map to sounds. Learn how to teach the letter–sound relationships that unlock decoding and give students the tools to read new words independently.
Word Recognition
